FINALLY! A good Night's Sleep, Naturopathically!

"Rest Assured” , by following these 7 tips to falling asleep and having a positive bedtime routine, you can start to enjoy restful, quality sleep. Developing a consistent bedtime routine, creating a better sleep environment, managing stress and anxiety, following a sleep schedule, and taking better care of your body all set the stage for getting quality rest every night. Some of these tips may seem obvious but if you are having trouble falling asleep it is important that you implement them all at least for a few weeks to get back in the “habit of falling asleep”.

  1. Relaxing and regular routine.   Go to bed before 10pm each night and get up at the same time each morning. Cutting out day time naps will help set your circadian rhythm (Body's Natural Sleep Pattern). This important bedtime routine will lead to improved sleep habits.
  2. Reduce or eliminate caffeine and stimulants such as alcohol. Caffeine in particular causes sleeping problems and it may be necessary to eliminate it completely for a few weeks or at least not have any after midday. Alcohol leads to poor quality sleep by affecting the brain wave patterns which leads you to waking up feeling tired.
  3. Address stress and anxiety to avoiding tossing and turning in the night. Getting involved Tai Chi, meditation and yoga or having regular acupuncture treatments can all help reduce stress so give them a try.
  4. Some people can be very sensitive to electromagnetic frequencies so avoid electrical equipment such as T.V's, computers and avoid having the bed right next to your power points.  I recommend avoiding them at least 1 hour before you want to actually be asleep.
  5. Regular exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, and if you exercise regularly your sleep will reap the benefits. However, exercising should be limited to no later than 3 hours before your normal bedtime as the endorphins and chemicals coursing through your body, plus the elevated brain activity, could also keep you awake into the wee hours.
  6. Have a meal at least 3 hours before going to bed, and not any closer to bedtime, in a relaxed environment to allow your food to digest and avoiding reflux so you will be more relaxed at bedtime.
  7. If you have tried all of the above tips and you still have difficulty sleep I can recommend some specific supplements for you with guaranteed results for a better night's sleep.
  8. We have dozens of tried and true sleep helpers in our natural pharmacy.

Nothing says sex appeal more than a great head of hair and both men and women are incredibly concerned when their hair is thinning.  What are the natural options?

(NaturalNews) Chinese herbs have been used for centuries on their own and in conjunction with other alternative therapies such as acupuncture, acupressure and moxibustion to prevent hair loss, re-grow hair and restore natural pigment to gray hair.

Hair loss has many causes, such as the genetic male pattern baldness and diseases affecting glands and hormones. Lack of circulation to the scalp and vitamin deficiencies play a major role in hair health. Chemotherapy or other toxicities are also a cause of hair loss and is the primary cause of hair loss in patients suffering from cancer.

Hair loss prevention with Chinese medicine

Certain herbs help bring the body into balance and are used for thinning hair treatment and as baldness cures. The first steps toward hair restoration is establishing the cause, removing it if possible and then increasing the quality of the blood and circulation to the scalp. The key to limiting thinning hair and promoting hair re-growth is early intervention. Natural hair loss treatments may extend from 3 to 12 months or longer, depending on the severity of the problem, the length of time the condition has persisted, and on the response of each individual being treated.

Below are listed some of the best hair promoting Chinese herbs. An naturopath or herbal specialist should be consulted for source and formulas as these vary widely and can be quite dangerous if used by amateurs as they impact the whole body.

1.One natural herb is Fo-Ti, also known as He Shou Wu, or by its Latin name, Polygonum Multiflorum. This herb has shown efficacy for hundreds of years in not only helping with  restoration, but also for restoring gray hair to its original color. It strengthens hair, builds the blood and reverses the process of aging throughout the body. Most commercial products use raw herbs which are not usable for this purpose.

2. Ganoderma lucidum or Reishi mushroom as well as others,  is known in TCM for enhancing kidney energy which effects blood flow. This highly touted herbal cure is known in China as a cure for immune disorders and helps protect against aging. In China, Reishi mushroom is so well respected it has been called the "mushroom of immortality."

3. Ligustrum lucidum or Nu Shen Zi improves circulation to the scalp and is considered a Yin kidney and liver tonic. In China it is said that this herb extends life and acts on the immune system as a blood tonic helping with hair restoration and prevention.

4. Schisandra chinensis or Wu Wei Zin is a well known herbal tonic used to enhance beauty and as a baldness cure. It is one of the most widely used natural hair restoration products, enhancing skin quality on the scalp and on the rest of the body.

5. Additional herbs used in natural hair restoration products and herbal tonics include Thallus algae, a type of seaweed high in micronutrients; Morus albus or Mulberry fruit spike, used to prevent the premature graying of hair; Stinging nettle, which provides important minerals and nutrients to prevent hair loss and stimulate hair re-growth; Rehmannia glutinosa, Angelica sinensis, Eclipta prostratea, Sesame indicum, and Salvia miltiorrhiza.

Chinese herbs are designed to be used in conjunction with acupuncture in order to direct energy to the scalp and affected organs.  Chinese herbs are not generally used alone but in combinations or formulas.

We have seen awesome results in clients with varied levels of hair loss and causes with acupuncture and herbs.

Dietary Changes Prompt Swift Improvements in Inflammation

In that inflammation is a primary trigger for a number of chronic diseases ranging from cardiovascular disease to cancer, Alzheimer's disease to arthritis, a number of researchers are pursuing the role of changes in diet to reduce the inflammation response.  Lynnette Ferguson, from The University of Auckland (New Zealand), and colleagues studied 30 healthy men and women, selected for their initially "poor" diets, who were encouraged to eliminate refined and processed foods and to follow a Mediterranean type diet over six weeks – featuring increased amounts of fish, vegetables, unrefined cereals, and "good" fats such as olive oil and avocado. A prominent feature of the diet was also that it was gluten-free. Recipes were supplied to the participants.  After six weeks, the team observed that biomarkers of inflammation, most notably C-reactive protein (CRP), were markedly reduced. Source 2/4/2013 Longevity Magazine.

This is extremely important research and supports my observations that #1 diet is extremely important to health, and #2 the human body wondrously responds to proper care and feeding.

If you need help with a natural approach to your health, call us for an appointment today.  You may also want to check out my any other articles and Natural Pharmacy regarding supplements that naturally reduce inflammation.

Many of you that know and have worked with me know that I have an uncanny ability to cut right to the heart of matters. For Valentine's weeks posting I'll be continuing that trend.

We all know that blood circulates in our bodies. But what you may not know is that aside from being a vital nutrient substance blood can also be a cause of pain in the body. One of the ways blood causes pain is when it becomes “stagnant.” That is, locations where blood becomes “static” (e.g., sluggish) in the organs and tissues.

The following list of common ailments related to the quality of blood, paints a picture of how many different issues are related to the quality of our blood.

  • 25.1 million Americans live with heart disease
  • 32% of Americans suffer hypertension
  • 12% of females over age 20 are deficient in iron
  • 16% of adults have high-cholesterol
  • 1 in 6 Americans contract arthritis
  • 26 million Americans, between ages 20-64, suffer back pain

Blood Formation and Circulation

Blood is formed by the essence of the food and beverages we consume. This essence is extracted by the energetic function of the spleen and stomach, which also produce qi or life force.

Once formed, blood circulates not only in the veins but throughout the body by way of the meridian complex. It is jointly controlled by the heart (which dominates blood and vessels and circulates it), the liver (which promotes the free-flow of qi, stores blood and regulates blood volume in circulation), and by the spleen (which controls the blood and prevents hemorrhaging).

Since traditional Chinese medicine views the entire body as a connected hole, it views the coordinated efforts and proper functioning of these three organs that ensures the continuous circulation of blood in the vessels. Dysfunction of the heart, spleen or liver may lead to abnormal circulation of blood, which causes pain, illness or disease.

Blood Stagnation

Blood stagnation is both a symptom and a cause of ill-health. It is caused by poor circulation of blood that itself is caused by deficient or stagnation of qi or by an excess of cold or heat in the blood itself.

When the qi (vital energy) is deficient or stagnant, it is unable to properly propel the blood through the body.

When cold enters the body it constricts the channels and impedes blood circulation.

When heat enters the body and enters the channels it raises the blood temperature, thereby “rendering it down” (if you will) and obstructing the free flow of blood.

When there is internal hemorrhage as a result of a traumatic injury, blood may also stagnate, causing bruises or more serious internal bleeding.

Manifestations of Blood Stagnation

Depending on the area of the blood stagnation, and indeed the cause of it, various signs and symptoms may present themselves. Here are some examples.

  • Blood stagnation in the heart may cause palpitations, what has been described as “a suffocating sensation” in the chest, cardiac pain and a purplish-color to the lips and nails. It may also cause mania.
  • Blood stagnation in the lungs may cause chest pain and the expectoration of blood.
  • Blood stagnation in the stomach and intestines may cause constipation or bloody stools.
  • Blood stagnation in the liver may cause hypochondriac pain.
  • Blood stagnation in the uterus may result in lower abdominal pain, scanty or irregular menstruation, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, and a dark menstrual flow with clotting.
  • Blood stagnation in the limbs and body surface may cause gangrene, a local purplish or bluish skin color, localized swelling or pain.

Characteristics of Blood Stagnation

Although blood stagnation manifests differently depending on its cause and location, it does present a set of identifiable characteristics. These include: a fixed stabbing-type pain which is aggravated by pressure and gets worse at night; purplish clots (bruises) or serious internal hemorrhage; varicose veins; a dark complexion; scaly and dry skin; bluish or purplish lips and nails; and a purplish tongue.

There is an axiom of traditional Chinese medicine that sums this up nicely:

Tong ze be tong;

Bu tong ze tong.

If there is free flow, there is no pain;

If there is pain, there is no free flow.

So the next time you're experiencing pain, make a check of the physical signs. Blood stagnation just might be the cause!

Take my word for this we are either circulating or stagnating.  If we are stagnating in our bodies...illiness is the inevitable result. Check out all our wonderful articles on Chinese Medicines and herbs and visit our store for over 400 natural products at great prices, and FREE shipping.

Best of Health to you all.

You Don't MOVE!
You take the elevator when you need to go up a few floors, you get on the little motorized walk ramp at the airport, and you park as close to the front door as possible. You spend HOURS on the computer each day or watching TV or BOTH! At first glance, choosing these habits don't appear to make much of a difference in your daily life. The fact is, they do. A flight of stairs burns, on average, 15 calories. If you're taking stairs at work, the mall or in your home on an average day, that could add up to 225 or more extra calories burned. Walk a bit further to get to the front door when you're shopping and you could burn an extra 30 (bye bye little piece of candy that you snuck in during your work day). Forgoing the automatic walkway in the airport -- an extra 100! The typical person moves in my opinion only 20% what their body requires....I am NOT even talking about exercise here.  Factor that in and you're down to 5-10%.

You Love Your Diet Sodas
No calories mean no weight gain, right? This is the popular line of reasoning for many diet soda drinkers. Unfortunately, current research indicates  links between artificial sweetener consumption and weight gain. A study in the journal Diabetes Care found that daily consumption of diet soda was associated with a 36 percent greater relative risk of developing metabolic syndrome and a 67 percent greater relative risk of developing Type 2 diabetes compared with non-consumption. Another study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that, in one group of study participants, consumption of artificially sweetened beverages was associated with Type 2 diabetes. The findings are mimicked in rat studies as well. A study in the journal Behavioral Neuroscience found that consumption of products containing artificial sweeteners led to weight gain due to changes in the rat's normal physiological processes of sweets. In addition to this, the presence of constant artificial sweeteners in the diet means you're never really letting your taste buds get a break from the sweet taste you love. The more you drink diet soda, the longer you'll remain trapped in the sugar cycle and continue to crave sweets.

You're  in LALA Land

Eating is awesome. The feel, smell and satisfaction of food are one of the main pleasures of life. You may miss these food advantages though if you're like most Americans and spend your meals and snacks in front of a TV, computer screen or newspaper. If this sounds like you, you're probably taking in way more calories than you think. A 2010 study in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that adding stimuli during mealtime increased not only the amount of food an individual consumed at that particular meal, but also increased calorie consumption later in the day as well. Further, a 2004 study in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine found an association between television viewing and obesity and metabolic syndrome. Take the time to enjoy your food.

Your Friends & Family Sabotage You

Have you ever had a friend  or family member who knows you're trying to lose weight and eat healthy, but still tempts you with "it won't kill you to have a few bites of (insert tempting high sugar, fat and calorie food here)." Support is crucial when it comes to successful weight loss and maintenance, and having a toxic person or people close to you can really throw you off. What you really need is a supportive buddy who you can lean on in good times and bad; someone who will keep you on track and compliment you when you lose weight. A 2005 study in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology found that individuals were most successful with weight loss when they "buddied" up with like-minded people with the same healthy goals as they had. Besides....If you have completely different lifestyles and values what exactly are you DOING with these people????

You "Diet" During The Week -- But Go  Wild On The Weekends

So many of my patients come to me with the same complaint: "How come I'm not losing weight? I barely eat anything!" At the most basic level, weight loss is a matter of numbers; consume fewer calories than you expend and you'll lose weight. However, in this case, too much of a good thing can actually sabotage your weight loss effort. The daily functions of keeping you alive require calories for fuel (and I'm talking about the basics -- breathing, beating heart, etc.) and when you don't provide your body enough energy, it slows down. It's very much like filling up your car with gas. With a full tank, you can go for miles at any chosen speed. When the gas tank is nearing empty, there is the need to drive slower to conserve gas consumption until the tank is filled again.

Metabolism works in much the same way. When we feed our body the proper fuel, we have endless energy. As the intake of calories drops to sustinance levels the human body moves into starvation mode. This starvation mode triggers a lower metabolism as the body becomes super efficient at using what little energy or fuel it receives. Fewer calories are burned and weight loss comes to a stop very inefficient metabolisms will actually conserve to the point of GAINING. A recent study in the American Journal of Physiology described an "energy gap" to explain the difference between appetite and expenditure requirements. Researchers found that energy requirements after weight loss decreased, meaning you needed fewer calories to maintain your current weight loss. As you ate less, the cycle continued and, over time, biology would take over and your ability to continue to lose weight diminished. If, on top of that, you choose to give yourself a "pass" on the weekends for all your hard work starving yourself during the week, expect more weight GAIN. Slow metabolism plus a Saturday/Sunday food and drink fest ... you do the math.

You're Getting Fewer Than 5 Hours A Night

Losing weight like any worthwhile pursuit takes ENERGY. Sleep is great for your  body, brain, your skin, and, as it turns out, your weight as well. An abundant amount of research indicates that a lack of sleep alters the digestive , not to mention stress hormones that are responsible for hunger and fullness. A lack of sleep may mean a loss of control of your portions the next day and an increased craving for sweets, fat and carbohydrates. Shoot for eight hours of sleep each night and you're more likely to achieve great skin, great productivity at work and home and a great weight!

DIGESTIVE Issues

Slow Digestion or digestive problems = Weight GAIN

Time and time again I have fixed digestive troubles in people and weight loss is one of the many great health results.

These are general topics if you wish to learn why YOU are not losing weight....schedule an appointment. I've achieved wonders with nutrition naturopathy and acupuncture...don't delay.... make an appointment today...

IS the Neti Pot in part responsible for brain eating amoeba deaths which occurred in Louisiana recently?

Louisiana's state health department has issued a warning about the dangers of improperly using nasal-irrigation devices called neti pots, responding to two recent deaths in the state that are thought to have resulted from "brain-eating amoebas" entering people's brains through their sinuses while they were using the devices.

Both victims are believed to have filled their neti pots with tap water instead of manufacturer-recommended distilled or sterilized water. When they used these pots to force the water up their noses and flush out their sinus cavities — a treatment for colds and

Jonathan Yoder, an epidemiologist with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said the Louisiana cases are still being investigated to ascertain that the deaths did indeed result from exposure to treated tap water in neti pots, rather than exposure to untreated water in a pond or lake. If so, they are the first known incidences of the disease in the U.S. resulting from N. fowleri organisms surviving the water treatment process.

"Nearly all the cases have resulted from exposure to warm recreational water, such as lakes and ponds

, and the kind of exposure where the water would be forced up the nose — for example, diving and water sports," Yoder told Life's Little Mysteries, a sister site to LiveScience. The amoeba thrives in natural waterholes, especially those in the South, and several Americans die every year from swimming in these waterholes, or using untreated water from them. However, "in the last 15 years, I'm not aware of other cases [in the U.S.] associated with treated drinking water," he said.

Municipal water undergoes a rigorous purification process to make it potable, including being treated with chlorine to kill microorganisms, he explained. "We consider chlorination to be effective in killing [N. fowleri]. I can't comment on any water system in Louisiana, but in general … you may start out with 1 million amoebas and your goal is to reduce it with chlorine, and you might get 99.9 percent out. But you're probably never going to eliminate 100 percent.

That goes for amoebas, parasites, bacteria, viruses. So while we say our drinking water is safe, it's not sterile."

But if you only use distilled or previously boiled water in your neti pot, and you avoid snorting water when diving into waterholes, can you be sure you won't get PAME simply by splashing your face with the water out of your faucet — especially if you live in Louisiana?

Yoder said the CDC maintains that the risk of getting PAME from normal exposure to tap water is very low, but they are helping Louisiana's health department investigate the water treatment process in the state.

"In general, what we're committed to is even though there are very few cases, CDC is very committed to learning more about the organism so we can prevent further infection by developing science-based prevention methods. But it is a very tragic infection and we're very sad for the families."

Mold: Frequently Asked Questions

The information found in the following Frequently Asked Questions was developed through a joint effort between the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Wisconsin Section of the American Industrial Hygiene Association whose contributions are kindly acknowledged.

Health

How can mold affect me?

Health effects associated with airborne mold exposure are allergic reactions, eye and respiratory irritation, infection and toxicity. About 10% of the population is allergic to one or more types of mold. Many of these people will be affected by outdoor as well as indoor exposures to mold.

Respiratory mold infection (growth in the lungs) can occur, but is rare. Occurrence is limited almost exclusively to immune-compromised patients, including those with transplants, chemotherapy, AIDS, neonates, etc. Toxicity is related to the ability of some molds to produce mycotoxins.  Anyone suspecting they are ill from environmental indoor mold exposure should seek treatment and advice from a medical doctor. It should also be noted that other factors can influence indoor air quality such as other organisms, chemicals such as solvents and pesticides, or gases such as carbon monoxide.

When is mold considered toxic?

Molds may produce substances called mycotoxins that modify their environment. Some of these substances are useful as antibiotics; but others are potentially harmful, especially if eaten. However, there is some evidence that breathing mycotoxins in mold-contaminated buildings represents a health hazard.  One mold, Stachybotrys, is frequently singled out. Initially thought related to cases of a lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis among infants, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control has stated, "In a further review of our first investigation, CDC reviewers and an external panel of experts determined that there was insufficient evidence of any association between exposure to S. atra or other toxic fungi and idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis in infants." Current guidance of federal and professional organizations is that mold growth should be controlled in an appropriate manner, regardless of the type of mold

Can mold affect people with allergies and asthma?

A person with asthma who is sensitive to molds could have an asthma attack triggered by either indoor or outdoor exposures. People with mold allergies have frequently been overprescribed antibiotics at some point. With respect to allergy, the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) states, "While indoor molds are well-recognized allergens, outdoor molds are more generally important

For people with asthma, controlling allergies is paramount!  A common health strategy is to avoid exposure by minimizing the amount of dust in the home. Humidity control is also very important. ACOEM supports indoor moisture control and the broad array of indoor respiratory challenges it affects. Moisture control is also strongly supported by the National Academy of Sciences as outlined in its report, Damp Indoor Spaces and Health.

For those with depressed immune systems, it is important to minimize exposure to dust & mold both at work and at home.  Care should be taken to minimize dust using wet cleaning methods and HEPA vacuuming. In particular, exposure to soil and plant materials such as compost should be avoided as they can have large numbers of mold.  Raking leaves should also be avoided.

If your seasonal allergies are acting up, NOW is a great time to schedule an appointment to get them under control with supplements and/or acupuncture, before your respiratory tract becomes more chronically inflamed.

Call us at 847-577-4455 to schedule an appointment TODAY!  We also have a variety of homeopathics appropriate to desensitize people to environmental mold counts that cannot be avoided.

I'd like to thank the clients who have posted google reviews....sorry they haven't posted so I have not seen them as yet....

Before delving into this week's topic please check your emails in the next couple of days for some exciting halloween treats! Also mark your calendar for Saturday 10/27 9:30-??? to come to our natural Book Fair. I need to thin my personal inventory and you will find many exciting books for your fall and winter reading pleasure at very low prices.

This week's topic is how to waste your money on alternative medicine.

The Chicago Tribune reported earlier this month that an obscure federal agency, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, has spent $1.4 billion over the last 12 years studying folk remedies as coffee enemas, acupuncture and ginkgo biloba.
Some critics say much of the money has been misspent looking at cures so obviously ridiculous that no research should be necessary. The coffee enemas – purported to treat pancreatic cancer – are an example.

Actually, the money may be well-spent – but according to the government, only to the degree it subjects outside-the-mainstream therapies to rigorous, skeptical review. Tens of millions of Americans dump $34 billion a year into alternative medicine, according to a 2007 survey by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.
Not all of the money is wasted. “Alternative medicine” is an overbroad label that covers just about any treatment that doesn't originate in a physician's office or hospital. Some of those treatments have track records of efficacy: Acupuncture, for example, is demonstrably effective in relieving back pain. Yoga can be a powerful stress-reliever.
It is a governmental concern that many of those billions of dollars wind up in the pockets of people peddling dubious alternative nostrums. The United States may lead the rest of the world in Nobel prizes, but legions of skeptical Americans are suspicious of “complementary medicine” and believe consumers, suckers for cures rooted in ludicrous notions – think homeopathy – or outright mysticism.
Remedies from China – herbal mixtures and manipulations of mysterious energy flows – seem especially alluring to the credulous. Alternative medicine can be harmful as well as a waste of money. Some Chinese potions, for example, have been shown to be toxic.
More often, the concern is the danger comes from diverting patients from maligned conventional treatments that might heal them or save their lives.

I have practiced alternative medicine, IE nutrition and herbal medicine, supplements, flower essence therapy, acupuncture and Chinese medicine for 15 years and have seen it work frequently.  I have also seen many clients throw a lot of money away due to their own issues and that is today's topic of discussion.  I wanted to summarize some of the ways that my unsuccessful clients waste their time and money on alternative medicine.  I hope you will not join this population.

#1.  Be a “doctor hopper”:  These clients flit from expert to expert and modality to modality committing to nothing and no one.  These folks are intent upon gathering opinions, and never doing anything about their problem.  They return from time to time to “check in” and flit off again.

#2. Believing that MLM companies can help them.  Multi Level Marketing companies provide anecdotal information regarding their product: supplement, herb, magnet, etc…and the gullibility factor as well as laziness factor has many people believing that they are participating in some level of alternative care and treatment where instead they are just buying snake oil which reported heals everything wrong with the world.  If it sounds too good to be true…well it is!

#3 Becoming an expert on your problem.  This person is so fixated on their problem they have little time or interest in getting a resolution.  They have attached to their illness and label and spend all their time gathering the latest data about it.  They may check out an alternative provider from time to time as they will any expert but have no interest in solving their problem.

#4 Treating oneself.  Most, if not all people  and even professionals should not attempt to treat themselves. First, they do not have the knowledge, and clinical expertise which takes many years.  Second they lack objectivity, with respect to their issue and this is true even of professionals.  Occasionally, a person arrives at my clinic with their own erroneous plan of treatment which they would like me to put a magical stamp on….this is a waste of time and money.

The most important ways to avoid these problems as well as others is to choose wisely.  Choose the modality you believe is most effective for your problem and seek out an experienced practioner who has had clinical success in that area.  Make certain your personalities meld, and then commit fully to your treatment plan.  If you do these things I think you will find complementary medicine to be a great bargain in your health quest.  Want to SAVE money?  Visit our Natural Pharmacy for great prices, discounts and FREE shipping on all orders!

Apple-A-Day Clinic has won the Talk of the Town Award for 2012 for Medical & Acupuncture in Arlington Heights.  This award is the second we've won in a month and is given to less than 5% of businesses.  I will publish more about it this week. No, I do NOT solicit these honors.

Our first Forum in October is:  How to Get and stay sick, and here is the scenario: While I do not concur with this...if you want to get and remain sick here's the way to do so....

 Don't Wash Your Hands
Don't bother washing your hands - especially before you eat. Germs are everywhere and our hands touch so many things in our environments that there are bound to be some viruses there at some point. If you don't wash your hands, you have a much higher likelihood of getting some of those germs into your body and getting sick.
While you're at it, skip the hand sanitizer as well. Since hand sanitizer kills the germs on your hands, using it will cut this risk factor.
Encourage Your Sick Friends to Visit, better yet hang out at schools, nursing homes, hospitals and other institutions bursting with pathogens....

Spending lots of time with people who are sick will increase your chances of getting sick yourself. Close contact like shaking hands and hugging or kissing will allow the germs to spread even more easily. So invite those friends and family members over when they are sick or go visit them. If you want to catch whatever they have, visit frequently and don't worry about washing your hands or turning away when they cough and sneeze.  Many of you have noticed I have stopped hugging and kissing y'all....not worth it...sorry.....
Schedule a Few Meetings with Sick Coworkers
We all know far too many people come to work when they are sick and having them in the office only increases the chances that everyone else will get sick, too. If you know a coworker is sick and has come to work anyway, scheduling a few extra meetings with them or just stopping by their desk a few times will help you pick up some of those germs.  It's even better if they are actively coughing and sneezing....
Eat Lots of Junk Food Especially sugar!
Although an unhealthy diet won't guarantee that you will get the flu, it definitely makes your body more susceptible to getting sick. A diet that consists primarily of healthy foods that contains a lot of antioxidants has been shown to keep people healthier. Eating an unhealthy diet makes your body more susceptible to catching germs and getting sick and you will probably have a harder time fighting off those infections when you get them. So if you want to get the flu, load up on the junk food.
Ignore the Need to Sleep...getting inadequate rest will disable your immune system by 75% or even more...
 Be a Couch Potato
Similar to eating an unhealthy diet, avoiding exercise at all costs will also weaken your immune system, making it more likely that you will get sick from the flu and any number of other illnesses. Watching lots of TV and not exercising won't give you the flu of course, but an unhealthy body is less able to fight off infections, so if you are exposed to the influenza virus, you will be more likely to come down with the flu.
Conversely....When you are SICK DO NOT EXERCISE, unless you want to stay sick a very long time!!!!  I see folks everyday at the gym who are sick and getting sicker and getting everyone around them sick....Take at least 3-5 days off if you are ill.
Be a Drama King or Queen....emotional theatrics and drama wear out your body leaving it open to illness....Depression literally drops all the body's energy including immunity so pick your battles better yet don't have any.  If you have emotional issues contact me for solutions...
Avoid Natural Medicine and supplements...everyone knows it's just bunk right?  A waste of money...frankly just the opposite...people who see naturopaths, and acupuncturists and take supplements are far more likely to avoid colds and flus and experience milder cases of them!  That also goes for much more serious health problems.
If you need assistance building up your immune system or have an underlying chronic illness like thyroid disease or diabetes etc schedule an appointment SOON so we can keep you very healthy this season.
I am going to begin sharing some case studies with you.  The first will be a client with HPV and her road to health.  To help build up your immune system visit our Natural Pharmacy Immune Health and Other Aisles where you get great products at LOW prices and FREE shipping.
Blessings and have a great week...See you Soon!
