Grandma was right, heavy sigh, again! Yup, wear your socks and slippers and keep your feet warm, along with some other body parts we will name a bit later, here's why:
If you, like a lot of my clients suffer from symptoms like these: feeling the cold easily, frequent nighttime urination, even to the point of incontinence, frequent lower back or knee pain, low libido and infertility, recurring colds or viruses, or infection, anxiety, panic attacks, low energy or lack of motivation you definitely need to improve your kidney health and energy.
Here's some simple yet sometimes difficult ways to do this:
Early sleep and arise after the sunrises.
Eat warm food, avoid eating and drinking cold or God forbid raw food.
Keep warm, especially the lower back (that's near the kidney),(I am thrilled that my SUV has heated seats that have helped my kidneys stay warm this winter!) abdomen, head, legs and feet.
Do eat an appropriate small amounts intake of highly nourishing foods such as: meat, egg and dairy, if possible for you as these foods are very strengthening to the kidney. Other foods that assist in rebuilding the yang energy of the kidney are ginger tea, jasmine tea, lamb stew, venison, walnuts, black sesame seeds, molasses, turmeric, and pumpkin. Do NOT overdo these though small amounts will readily change your energy and excess yang is an extremely dangerous condition! Try to keep your moods stable,as strong emotions damage especially anger, fear and shock damage
the body's energy reservoir.
Do an appropriate amount of physical exercise especially walking or yoga or Qi Gong or Tai Chi, but do not overtax yourself.
When you wear socks, as Granny told you to, you keep the meridians that run up and down your legs and feet warm. In Chinese medicine this helps keep your base energy active, alive and energized. It's your Kidney"fire" or Yang energy that helps keep your energy high and keeps you motivated in life.
Of course acupuncture, moxabustion, and Chinese herbs are brilliant to correct these issues as well! :)
Right now bend down and touch your feet. Do they feel cold? Most people aren't even aware that their feet are cold.
Major organ energy meridians run up and down your legs to important internal organs like your kidney, uterus, liver, spleen, stomach and gallbladder, so keeping your legs covered is also a good trick to help with raising your Kidney Yang.
Try it out and watch these symptoms ease up or even disappear.
