Adventures in Healing Chapter 1. DIVERTICULITIS

Joanne's diverticulitis disappeared

By far one of the most painful digestive complaints I'm asked about
is diverticulitis.

For those who aren't sure what it is, diverticulitis starts out as
diverticulosis.  Diverticulosis results from wastes that build up
along the colon wall and cause it to weaken and form
"pouches."

When the pouches become infected and inflamed they turn into
diverticulitis.

Now the most well-known symptom that people with diverticulitis
get is gut pain.

I'm talking pain that makes you curl up into the fetal position or
drop down to your knees and beg to be put out of your misery.

Many have told me that it's far worse than childbirth or kidney
stones.

So when people with diverticulitis see their attacks subside and
disappear after their bacterial balance is restored, they're
very grateful and relieved.

But what they might not realize is that pain relief is just the tip
of the iceberg.

You see, if your diverticulitis attacks are frequent, or you
develop an abscess or other complication, you could have some or
all of your colon surgically removed (called a colon
resection).

As if that weren't bad enough, the outlook AFTER a colon resection
isn't rosy.

First of all, if you don't change how you eat, the diverticulitis
can recur in the remaining parts of your colon.  That might mean
having even more taken out.

And depending on how much of your colon is taken out, it may be
necessary to get a colostomy.  This is where a hole is created in
your abdomen and the end of what's left of your
colon is surgically attached to that hole.  You then wear a bag
glued over the hole to catch feces that can leak out 24/7.

So it's understandable that people with diverticulitis want to
avoid surgery at ALL cost.

A Stool Microbiology helped  Joanne do just that.

You are doing a great job.  Thank you Sherry for referring me and God bless you for the help you have given to all of us.
