Japanese Radiation
Considered no threat to North American fish consumers according to researchers at Texas A & M Health Science Center.
In a dramatic effort to stabilize the nuclear reactors set off by last month's tsunami, Japanese workers have released thousands of gallons of water contaminated by radiation into the sea. This action has fueled worries that seafood consumed could be contaminated.
Experts claim that fish consumers in North America are in no danger. This is thought to be due to the dilutionary effect of the ocean.
Overall, seafood imported from Japan is 1% of the total US imports. All food types currently imported from Japan accounts for less than 4%.
Organic Label perceived as better
Recent market research has demonstrated that consumers perceive organic food as healthier, contains more nutrients and tastes better than non organic food.
This perception is based in truth. Organic products are better for you and the environment, have high levels of nutrients and look and taste better.
