My Story

I was fortunate enough to grow up on the Atlantic coast in my early childhood and then moved to Rural Philadelphia horse country when I was in Junior High.  Those tidal pools and farms brought me in direct contact with nature and God, and my education in natural medicine began then.  I’ve never doubted the power of nature to heal, and my German grandfather, Henry, practiced naturopathic medicine all his life.  In fact, he and my grandmother, Helen, juiced well into their 80’s in Seattle, Washington. Whenever I was sick, I was given vitamins or herbs. Cod liver oil “disguised” in orange juice was pretty unpalatable.  Still, I was helped by the stuff he prescribed and was as fascinated by it as he was.

I developed severe digestive problems in my early teens and was motivated enough by my discomfort to really change my diet.   In a few weeks I was “cured”, and I’ve never forgotten the relationship between diet and health.

My journey started when, I experienced a calling to attend graduate school and became an MS prepared clinical nutritionist and dietitian.  After a years hospital internship, I went on to study  natural medicine after experiencing first-hand our health-care “crisis” system.  I learned about herbs, homeopathy, flower-essences, and traditional Chinese medicine.  I began my clinic, Apple-A-Day Clinic, SC in 1996, and it has evolved with me.

In 1999 I began to study Chinese Medicine in Beijing, at the Academy of TCM.  I became board-certified here in 2003.  Chinese medicine filled in any knowledge gaps I still had regarding health, and the human spirit. I received my degree in Chinese herbal medicine Summa Cum Laude from Midwest College in 2006

During this time, I was learning vast amounts about healing, from may patients and the  importance of the tenet , “physician heal thyself”. Always fastidious about my health habits, a profound spiritual experience led me to experience personal healing at a much deeper level.  About three and one half years ago, I began working on myself in earnest.  I have left no stone unturned in my own quest for health.  I feel I have overcome the emotional problems including depression that I have struggled with my entire life.  Also, I have not taken a prescription medication for any reason for over 20 years.

I am deeply grateful to my patient “family”, for your love, support , faith, commitment, caring, and knowledge.   Together, we are building an exceptional healing community, and putting some very positive energy “out there”. Every day we experience miracles.

My love and appreciation for your participation in this great journey!
